Active NZ

Active NZ nationwide survey of participation in play, active recreation and sport for New Zealanders aged five and over. There are two ways to look at the Active NZ data which might be of value to you as regional organisation involved or interested in provision of play, active recreation and sport:

  1. Regional tables: here you find the Active NZ data tables for each Regional Sports Trust region within New Zealand. These tables include  Active NZ data specific to each region.

  1. If you are interested in developing programmes for a specific demographic group i.e. girls and young women, you can look at the Active NZ annual data tables here you will find results to each question specific to those groups such as what types of sports of activities they participate in, how their participation compares to other groups, barriers to participation and where they are active. You’ll also be able to compare results from your region to other regions across New Zealand.

Insights Tool

The Insights tool maps data from various sources to small sub-areas throughout New Zealand based on the demographic make-up of that area. Here you will be able to look at demographics, activity behaviours and trends, health trends and school data relating our region or subregion. Data can be viewed by city/district, regional sports trust and local board (Auckland only) filters.
