Annual general meetings
AGMs are an opportunity to:
- highlight the progress and achievements of the club over the past 12 months
- elect the board and/or committee for the following year
- discuss and vote on any changes to the constitution
- produce and review the financial accounts
- discuss future direction
- raise issues by members from ‘the floor’.
Club meetings
- You need to hold regular board or committee meetings to discuss club business and related matters. They are recorded in official minutes.
- Meetings follow an agenda which is your meeting plan.
- Topics for discussion will vary from meeting to meeting and range from who is coaching the team next season, to who washes the kit. This is your opportunity to discuss the ‘nuts and bolts’ of running your club.
- Your constitution should state how often meetings are held, and the minimum number of members needed (quorum).
- Good practice is to meet monthly, or at the least once every three months, and schedule these ahead for the year.
